General Destination Info
Rough Guide provides general information on every country around the world.  Always a good place to start.  They also offer downloadable guides.

Wikipedia is, of course, become the "go to" place for anything historical or factual.

This is also a great book to get you inspired:

Itineraries Moon Guide Trip Planner is definintely one of the best sites we have seen for planning a trip in North, South or Central America. They provide great information and ideas for a trip.  Their list of countries is expanding, but right now they feature - Argentina, Belize, Brazi, Canadian Rockies, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Grand Canyon, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru and Puerto Vallarta.

Three essentials for India:
GET YOUR VISA ORGANIZED AHEAD OF TIME.  The Embassy wait can be brutal!

A-Z of Adventure Travel Insurance from World Nomads as you will probably get "Delhi Belly."

Hostelworld was a great help for finding cheap, but decent accommodation in India!
