Accommodation we spent the night at Ontera - http://www.onteora.com/ or 845.657.6233 - the mountain house. It is located near Woodstock up in the trees on a hill. We went off season and the weather was freezing. However, we had a fabulous room with a enclosed sitting room. There was a wood-burning fireplace and panorama windows overlooking the beautiful tree-filled landscape. We hid out in the room and drank tea and then wine. It was fantastic.
The owners were not the warmest B&B owners, but breakfast was yummy enough and the room made all the difference.
White Linen Restaurants We had a brilliant meal at The Bear Cafe - http://www.bearcafe.com/\\\\. It seemed to be apart of a huge complex - two restaurants, theatre and radio station. By accident we went to the wrong restaurant at first - which was a causal bar place. We went next door to find a trendy fine-dinning experience with an excellent wine list. It was something you expected to see in NY city, not in Woodstock. However, do not think you are stepping back into the city you just escaped. The waiters are very friendly and the clientel is very low-key.
