| Activities & Experiences | Theatres Everyone who comes to NY either wants to be on the stage or go see a Broadway show. Here are a few tips:
First of all, pick up Time Out NY to get the latest listings.
BROADWAY - Never pay full price for a B-way ticket. There are always discounts. Line up at TKTS booth in the middle of Times Square or check for discount listings at www.BroadwayBox.com, www.TheatreMania.com, www.Broadway.com. For reviews check out www.Playbill.com or www.NYTimes.com.
DOWNTOWN THEATRE - This is what NY theatre is all about. This is where you can see experimentation and the start to many artists. You will see good and bad work, but always interesting. Some of the more famous venues include - PS122, Public, La Mama, NY Theatre Workshop, Wooster Group, but check the Time Out listings to see what else is going on.
Also, check out www.chashama.org. They are a really amazing company that works with the real estate community to provide free space to artists. They always have amazing work happening around NY.
Other Classic options -
LINCOLN CENTER /BAM - Some of the best work I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ve seen in NY is at Lincoln Center and Brooklyn Academy of Music. They show such a variety of work that it is best to check out their websites for the latest listings.
OFF-BROADWAY - a great alternative to B-way. Try the Roundabout or Playwrights Horizon or any of the theatres on Theatre Row (42nd St between 9th & 10th Ave).

| Other HOTELS
I have not personally stayed at these places, but I have friends who were very very happy:
1. I have heard this place rocks: Hotel QT 125 West 45th St 212.354.2323. It is a cheaper, but swanky place. Located between Times Square & Bryant Park...so very convenient for getting around the city. Lots of subways near by. There is a crazy bar that looks at the swimming pool on the lobby floor.
2. Union Square Inn http://unionsquareinn.com/location.html
3. There is a hostel on Amsterdam and 104th Street. It looks very active, but I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ve never been inside. |

Three essentials for India:
GET YOUR VISA ORGANIZED AHEAD OF TIME. The Embassy wait can be brutal!
A-Z of Adventure Travel Insurance from World Nomads as you will probably get "Delhi Belly."
Hostelworld was a great help for finding cheap, but decent accommodation in India!
