HIGHLIGHTS
Major Activity:
One thing you cannot miss:
Walking across the Charles Bridge when the sun is just coming over the city skyline. (Try and do this in winter when there is no-one on the bridge.)
I wish someone had told me:
The warmer the weather the more tourists there are.
Suggested visiting time:
1-2 weeks, but I'm sure a weekend there would be fun.

ACTIVITIES
Next time:
Walk across the Charles Bridge and through the Old Town Square to the big Clock, Check out what's left of the John Lennon Mural, Tour the old Jewish getto, see a soccer match.

SHOPPING
To buy:
Czech crystal

ACCOMODATION
Hotels/hostels/accom:
I stayed in leftover dorms from the communist era. Pretty basic, but clean. There are usually people at the station trying to recruit travelers.
Part of town to stay:
City Center - makes everything very convenient.

FOOD
Retaurant/local dives/markets:
Eastern European food has much to be desired. As a vego it was down to fried cheeze. BUT prague has some amazing vegie restuarants and cool expat joints when you need some tasty food - Radost FX, Globe, Pizarria Rugantino, Country Life, Adonas, Cornicopia, U Govinda, Joes, Derby
To try:
Cherney Pivo (dark beer), shamzny seer (fried cheeze)

NIGHTLIFE
Local Activity/Cultural Experience:
If it still exists - U Maleho Glennas had an old wine celler that was transformed into a room where they would hold jam sessions. In the Spring all of the beautiful churches have classical concerts. It was such an amazing location to sit and listen.
At night:
Go out the trendy expat bars. Great atmosephere. The big ones at the time I was there were - Roxy, Rubens, Bar under James Joyce.

GETTING AROUND
Local transport:
the subway and the trams. They are really easy to use, BUT ALWAYS HAVE A TICKET. I've been in a few jams. They used to have a cheap student rate if you were studying there.
My Route:
I used to come in and out of Prague via train. It is so central to everything in Eastern and Western Europe that it is an amazing base for traveling.

SAFETY
Safety Tips:
Generally I felt safe. But there are tons of pick pockets. The soccer matches were full of skin-heads...not exactly the most peaceful crowd.

OTHER TRAVELERS

There are tons of travelers in Prague. All the sites are in one central area so you will basically trip over tourists.
Three essentials for India:
GET YOUR VISA ORGANIZED AHEAD OF TIME.  The Embassy wait can be brutal!

A-Z of Adventure Travel Insurance from World Nomads as you will probably get "Delhi Belly."

Hostelworld was a great help for finding cheap, but decent accommodation in India!
