| Activities & Experiences | Local Markets Thanks to a tip from Marti on Checkpointblack, we left our tour group one afternoon for the most memorable experience of strolling through the covered walkways of Jaipur. It\\\\\\\'s true sensory overload with tiny shopping stalls offering everything from food to saris to plumbing supplies; street vendors sitting with baskets of goods; bikes, motorbikes, rickshaws, cars, cows barely missing each other; and the most colorful crowds of people you will ever see! Like most of what we saw in India, Jaipur is poor and unsanitary, but the covered walkways provide some separation from the chaotic streets, the people are totally nonthreatening, and the market experience is fascinating. |

Three essentials for India:
GET YOUR VISA ORGANIZED AHEAD OF TIME. The Embassy wait can be brutal!
A-Z of Adventure Travel Insurance from World Nomads as you will probably get "Delhi Belly."
Hostelworld was a great help for finding cheap, but decent accommodation in India!
