From our first moments in India I have discovered that I must be a supermodel. Everywhere we went I attracted hordes of attention. Men would literally do a double take whenever I passed. Women would give me the eye-over. What was it that drew so much attention? My messy pulled back hair? My downright sexy traveling pants? Or maybe they thought I was one of the token whities that performs in Bollywood movies. Whatever it was that drew their looks, I was certainly a Queen Bee celeb. But I'm not the only walking celeb in India:

Itchy Feet:
I have 2 weeks and am thinking of going: Kochi-Alleppy-Varkala-Periyar - then maybe Munnar. If possible I would like to use train or bus, but I will take taxi if necessary. Is this a good route? if so how should I get from Varkala to Periyar? Thanks!

Llama: From Rahul - the Kochi-Allepey-Varkala leg all heads South along the coast which can be done by jumping on and off a train or taking buses. It may make sense then to take a taxi from Varkala to Periyar (more)

Three essentials for India:
GET YOUR VISA ORGANIZED AHEAD OF TIME. The Embassy wait can be brutal!
A-Z of Adventure Travel Insurance from World Nomads as you will probably get "Delhi Belly."
Hostelworld was a great help for finding cheap, but decent accommodation in India!
